    Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know of a good plumber that can install a RO/DI unit in Des Moines or better yet Indianola. I'm tired of haling jugs of water.

    Thanks!!

You can DIY pretty easy. Here is a pic of my setup. I collect both clean and waste. [IMG]
Line tap or faucet adapters are at Lowes for right around $5, and the 55s were freebies from a local ag supply store (35.4% hydrogen peroxide barrels) and $10 in 2x4s and screws.

You can self install one very easily in most cases.
Either use a saddle valve on the water line http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/self-piercing-saddle-valve-1.html
or what I did was run a Y- shut off valve off my cold water line to my washing machine and put a hose adapter on one side to run the RO unit. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/mur-lok-garden-hose-utility-sink-adapter.html

There are other ways to do it as well, it just depends on where you want it and what access you have to the water source. If you're uncomfortable with doing it yourself, I'm sure someone in the club would be more than happy to give you a hand.

Some advice though, add a float valve to your container, or you will end up making RO/Di water and forgetting about it and overflowing. It happens to everyone.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not the most mechanical person. Can they be set up to use on an *** needed basis such as filling up (I know it would take a couple days) the water I need for top off/water changes?

If you get the hose adapter from Lowes you can screw it onto a faucet when needed, and pull it when you are done. Mine is plumbed up but still on a hose adapter.

Thanks for the info. Anyone who would be willing to help beer (or pop) and pizza would be on me!

Where are you located? I may have some free time this weekend.

Better yet would be to get the kind that screw into the coldwater supply underneath the faucet. Try looking up "inline undersink shutoff adapter". You can get them at Lowes/Menards/Home Depot

They run about $10 but you can keep it hooked up 24/7 and out of sight underneath the sink. You can either choose to permatnetly fix the RO wasteline to the drain, or just stick the hose down the sink when you are ususing it. It's very easy to install...just shut off your water, unscrew the coldwater hose from the sink , screw this in, and then screw the coldwater hose back in.

Ouch. Nothing personal but 2 hours is a bit too far for me. Hour or less no big.

Not a problem that's why I posted in my original post in Des Moines or Indianola.

    Thanks for the offer.
