Mandarins have a falling out.

Well, apparently my male mandarin is not welcome after all. I found him with the female clamped onto his dorsal fin, and he did not appear to be having any fun. I was lucky enough to be able to net him out and move him to my sump. There's lots of pods in there so he'll be okay, I just hope they didn't beat each other up too bad.

 

That is strange, my 2 did that for awhile last night & today all is well.

Are the male/ female for sure?

 

That was my first thought, but unless she had an accident and lost a dorsal spine, they are definitely male/female. In the mandarin primer on RC it mentions that introducing one to an established tank might not have been the best idea. She was chasing him all over last night so I turned off the lights early and left them off until this evening. When I went down an hour later she had him pinned against the front glass.

 

Craig, did you add your 2 mandarins at the same time or did you already have one?
