live rock in the sump

    Ive seen a lot of sumps set up with live rock in there. What are the benefits of that?

    Just a place to put more live rock without crowding up the display tank. Like Sponge said, the more live rock you have, the more beneficial bacteria you have.

    I've also found my pod population does better with the LR in the sump, which my mandarin really likes.
