My tank is already 81 degrees.  My living room is generally the warmest room in the house and happens to be right where my tank is.
    I figure I have a few options.
    1. Run AC all year...screw that.
    2. Move tank to basement...too much work.
    3. Deal with it...might be an option as long as I can keep it below 81.
    4. Ditch the 250 watt MH and get a LED unit...considering it.
    5. Add a chiller....nope.
I've tried a single AI SOL Blue and wasn't all that impressed, I'm curious too see what a Radion looks like on my tank.

Anyone have a Radion I can borrow for like 5 minutes to see if I like it on my tank or not?  [IMG]

That's an option I guess.  I really don't care for the color separation and fake looking shimmer I got when using the SOL Blue, maybe I'll try a white.

May also want to contact Steve at steve's leds. he is crazy about LEDs and how to get the most out of them over your tank. I am working with him on getting a set for my 135 Gallon tank.

Be ready to be a slave to your ATO reservoir.  Mike, you have a good point, if the ambient temp in my living room is 80+ no matter what light source I use it's gonna run warm.

Can you run a fan over the water? Or over the sump?

I no longer worry about heat since I got rid of the MH's and went to AI's. I love the color.

I still have heat issues . My tank is small and when the temp goes up outside the tank goes up as well. Hopefully when the 90 goes up in the basement I won't have that problem.

Evap is the best way to lower heat quickly I have found. One of the ideas I am going to incorporate in to the Algae Scrubbers may help indirectly. I am adding an secondary overflow protection drain to all my designs via a uniseal on the side, then the lid can be modified with holes and fans (and a flapper of some kind as well) so that you could put the fan on a controller and kick it on when the tank temp goes up. The air would blow across the waterfall screen and out the emergency drain pipe and would have a massive cooling capacity because of the water movement in place over the screen. Heck you could use the scrubber box and fans without the lights and have it just be for the purpose of cooling the tank if you didn't want to run a scrubber.

Of course this would suck down your ATO like previously mentioned...
