Advice? How did you attach your live rock

    Hey just getting some ideas on what you guys used to get your live rock to stay in place. Tried the epoxy sticks they just dont stick to wet live rock well ended up putting super glue on one side of the epoxy and then smooshed it together. But rather not do that this time.

    I have used the stuff from Marco rocks. I think it's just ordinary hydraulic cement with their label. I don't know how it would do on wet rock though.
    Holes and acrylic rods and zip ties is what I used when I originally did my big tank. but sometimes you end up breaking the rock up trying to drill it. And it doesn't work filling in the smaller pieces.

    @xroads@xroads has talked about Six10 epoxy and I'm pretty sure he used it on his tanks.

    I used Tha six10 epoxy but it was all dry rock. Works great but it take 24 hours to cure. I let it cure 3 days before I get it wet.
    My other tank I used 2 little fishy stick epoxy to hold my rocks.

    The six10 epoxy is incredible, but I have never tried it wet to see what happens.

    Yea thats the problem is its wet. What i want to do with the rock is gonna need to have some good hold. You would think there has to be something that will hold wet rock together

    I epoxied 55 lbs of dry together and I picked up the whole structure the next day in 1 piece.

    I dripped some on another rock and tried to remove after it dried. The rock broke when I tried removing the glob of epoxy. It's good stuff.
    Maybe contact the company about using on wet rock.

    Are you trying to epoxy the rock and then go right back in the water or can the rock stay out of the water for some time?

    Ther isnt any coral on the rocks they are just grtting cooked at the moment so they can stay out of water for a few hours i would think

    Marco mortar 100%. I used this on the re-build at Taki in Urbandale, had live rock in one tank transported it and kept it wet then layer out the structure while keeping the rock damp by pouring water over it, mixed and placed mortar and rock. I think it's ideal to let it cure with air exposure for like 60 minutes but then you can submerge it. Awesome awesome stuff
