anyone us none "aquarium" sillicon on there sump dnt want to pay 1299 for the all glass stuff

 

Ya, I have used the Menards stuff a lot of times

 

Certain one or just any glass one

 

a lot of them have a anti mold chemicals in them now pay the 12.99 whats 13.00 to be safe

 

I only use the stuff that's says aquarium safe. You can get a full tube from Big Al's for $8.99 + shipping. If you're in no hurry to get it, I'm making an order and I can throw it on mine and you won't have to pay shipping...but then there is the issue of getting it to you...I'm in CR and you're in Rock Island.

If craig uses the cheap stuff, I think we are all safe using the cheap stuff. Just saying /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif

 

just make sure it is 100% silicone

 

Lowe's carries "Aquarium safe" silicone, about half the price of the lfs stuff. 

 

Use the GE Silicone I. Make sure it is the I and not the II.

Also, make sure it is the clear and not the white. I have made that mistake!

 

I got some 100% clear 4$

 

Ge 1 100% window and door NOT bath and kitchen because the bath and kitchen has the anti-mold bacteria crap whatever it is in it. Just make sure you let it cure for a couple of days to a week before putting it to use.

 

Yes I use the clear window stuff. Had it in a full blown reef for 3 years with no issue.

I do know from experience that it wont hold glass & acrylic together for very long though.

if you scuff the edge of the acrylic with sandpaper it will hold pretty well
