New tank is here!

310 gallons, 968 pounds. Now how do we lift it appropriately? Need advise! Do we rent hose suction things from aero? Or just lift it?

 

These work well and are only $5.99/each from Harbor freight if there is one in Iowa City....but 968lb is a lot of weight and our 210 weighed "only" 343 lbs empty. What are the dimensions? will it even fit through a door? Good luck....I hope you have some big friends!

Nice tank! But how is that thing getting in the house! Looks like it is almost 48" wide. We have a 350 in our basement family room but it is only 34" wide (the widest that we could go to fit it through the doorways).

We had a moving company pick ours up from the freight terminal and move into place so the move was insured. Goodluck with the move though.

 

Thanks Jamie. Do you remember who you used? The dimensions are 48"x 48"x30". The pallet weight 988 pounds but not sure what the empty aquarium weighs.

 

I'm sure the tank is 700+ lbs of that. I'm way up here in Decorah we had Bahl Moving of La Crosse, WI move it since they specialized in heavy items and that's were our tank came into. It was built by miracles aquariums out of Canada.


If your serious about having a moving company do it call around and ask. If they tell you they won't ask if they know someone who will. If you go that route just make sure that they are insured if something should break during the move.


But anyway will that thing fit into your house??

 

Yes. It is only 30" tall if we flip it on its side and if needed we have French doors that open up 6feet wide on the back side of our house but we will have to carry it up some stairs if we go that route. If we can get it through our garage doorway, we will actually have a ramp and it will be super smooth and less distance to go(maybe 50ish feet)

 

Is there a 2 men and a truck near you. they are the ones who moved both my big tanks

 

Just curious you said if use the French doors that would have to go up done stairs . So I am taking that if it not in a basement? Or are the stairs to get in basement ? With a tank that size most houses are not designed to handle that much weight . Just giving you a head up before installing it and crashing through floor of house.

There are 4 stairs on my deck that we would have to climb if we use the French doors. Not bad but I would like to avoid them if possible. I can't wait to see it in my house, but need to do my prep work first so that everything is perfect
