deciding on fish

i have a 14gal biocube, with 2 black clowns. Im thinking of lowering my bio load because I want it to be mainly corals, but not sure what i would add instead.

 

Is that all thats in there for fish?

O no, if i found another fish i liked enough i would get rid of them

 

Besides a cuc, only other thing i have is a blue start fish (w/e it might our grow my tank, but I'll worry about it when that time comes lol)

I don't see what's wrong with having the clowns in there...it might be a little cramped but they dont swim around that much anyways. A blue star fish though? Are you referring to a blue linckia? I do not think that would do well in a 14g tank. I believe they eat on the microbes and there probably wouldnt be enough in a tank that small to sustain one more than a few months.

 

Apparently i didn't state what i want at all. I want to lower my bio load, so there is less bad stuff in the water, so it'll be easier to grow corals. I know my teo fish are ok to have but, is there one fish out there someone would suggest? Im looking for color and something different maybe.

 

Its not that I don't like the clowns, but I'm not in love with them. If someone can point out a fish that's more attracted to me I would find them a new home. At the same time I want the corals to be the main attraction keeping as many different types as my little tank can hold.

 

I love my clownfish. 3 different pairs black, reg ones and black ice. With a small tank clowns work great.

 

Purple firefish are really cool looking. They don't swim much and are really gorgeous to look at. Downside is, they need a tank with a lid, because they're prone to jumping out. I have just a regular red firefish and it's still gorgeous and fun to watch. They're timid as all get out at first, but once they warm up, they are pretty entertaining. Also, if you're experienced, very patient, and very diligent, you could look into getting a mandarin. Mandarins are fairly difficult to keep, but if you are able to keep your parameters in check and are willing to dang near hand feed them, they make a beautiful addition.

 

I agree that bioload is not a problem for you right now. If you only want one or two fish for aesthetic reasons, that's cool, but for suggestions you're going to have to give us a little more that "something with color that's different." Different overall? Different than your clowns? In a tank that size your choices are definitely limited. Liveaquaria.com has a pretty comprehensive nano tank fish section. You could peruse that and maybe give us a little more to go on.
