CO2 scrubber

My basement is the same way. I just open the windows and it jumps to 8.3? I've seen these before and they do work. Air gas in cr sells that crap. Then it's basically just a little elbow grease and whammo! 
Let me know if you go this route. If it works I might try the same thing. I'd suggest getting a small batch of soda lime and if it works, I'd be more than happy to split the cost on a 5 gal pale /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif

 

Wow I'm definitely interested... even running kalk to try to keep ph up with my calcium reactor i run between 7.80 and 8.10. It looks relatively simple to get going. Anyone have any experience trying this out? I'm in the CR/IC area and would also be interested in going in on the soda lime.

 

You know that kalk absorbs Co2 just as well Soda lime and kalk are allot alike except the kalk is a powder and soda lime is spheres shaped. ( and much easier to run air through it). I've never tried the co2 scrubber though. I’ve read mixed results on them but think this depends on how much Co2 is in ambient air around the aquarium whether or not they will help much. The aquariums water is always going to try to be in equilibrium with the co2 in the room.

 

Bulkreef has a co2 scrubber kit. I run one on my skimmer but doesnt really make much of a difference still stays between 7.9-8.0ph

I've been running the BRS scrubber for almost a week now (waiting for bulk soda lime from Airgas) and I've seen a boost to my pH especially over night. I was typically dropping to 7.75 over night and getting up to 8.00 during the daytime peak. Now I'm dropping to about 8.00 at night and peaking around 8.20 during the day.
